What is the I-deas format, and what is it used for?
I-deas was a comprehensive Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) software package originally developed by SDRC. It provided integrated design, simulation, and analysis capabilities for mechanical engineering applications. The software supported various file formats including .arc (archive), .mf1 (master file), .pkg (package), and .unv (universal) files. I-deas was eventually acquired by Siemens and integrated into the NX product line. It is a file format mostly used for integrated CAD and engineering analysis.

Converting and Optimizing I-deas Files
